Software Development

Development of GTEC award winning multilingual Internet based dictionary www.livingdictionary.com     www.asuilaak.com   which provides English, French and Inuktitut translations taken from many existing dictionaries;

Sorting, Searching, Indexing, Spell checking

Developed the first Unicode-based Inuktitut font ("NunacomU");

Developed Inuktitut Keyboards and Fonts;

Developed the first Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun language spelling rules checker;

Developed techniques for searching Aboriginal texts in syllabics

Developed Inuktitut syllabic sorting algorithms which accurately sort finals, long and short vowels, etc. according to traditional methods;

Partnered with the National Research Council of Canada to facilitate development of advanced tools (morphological analyzer) to enhance the use of Inuktitut for Internet Searching and Spell checking

Data Conversion

Developed font converstion routines to enable the use of many different and incompatible Inuktitut fonts interchangeably;

Developed software to convert Greenlandic and Nunavik Inuktitut to/from ICI (Inuit Cultural Institute) Roman or Syllabic Inuktitut;

Data Restoration and Cleanup

Converted the Lucien Schneider Dictionary from paper to Electronic, and integrated the result into the Living Dictionary;

Integrated other dictionaries, including Dorais, Pond Inlet, and the Nunavut Arctic College glossaries into the Living Dictionary;

Publishing Services

Developed an electronic version of the Schneider dictionary in matched English and French versions for Avataq Cultural Institute; including updating of obsolete French edition spelling.

Developed Searchable electronic versions of the Nunavut Land Claims agreement in English and Inuktitut--ultimately published on CD by Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.;

Prepared the syllabic section of the Nunavut telephone directory for NorthwesTel;

Developed CD-based learning tools for the Nunavut Department of Education;

Consulting and project management services

Developed a computer-based language strategy for the Government of Nunavut;

Worked with Innirvik Support Services to enhance the preparation of Hansard for the Nunavut Legislative Assembly;

Developed a plan to expand the DIAND Aboriginal Canada web site to facilitate the use of Inuktitut and Cree;

Presented Papers at many linguistic conferences worldwide

Developed detailed technical architecture and project plan to create a Multilingual Web site containing Tibetan Medical Texts, accessible in Tibetan and English
